TWENTY-FIVE YEARS ON: A LEGACY THAT REFUSES TO FADE — CELEBRATING THE LIFE AND ENDURING SPIRIT OF LATE CHIEF (ENGR.) EMMANUEL OLUSANYA AINA-DOUBLE

There are men who pass through life and are remembered only by the calendar of their birth and death. And then there are men who, though called home, continue to walk among the living — in the values they planted, the character they modeled, and the destinies they shaped long after their voices have gone silent. Late Chief (Engr.) Emmanuel Olusanya Aina-Double belongs unmistakably to the latter class.

Twenty-five years is a long time by any measure — long enough for nations to rise and fall, for children to become elders, for memory itself to soften at the edges. And yet, here we are, gathered in spirit if not in body, to declare with one voice that this remarkable patriarch has not been forgotten. Time, that great eraser of lesser legacies, has met its match in the story of this man.

To be remembered as *Hero, Mentor, and Father Figure* a quarter-century after one’s passing is no small feat. It is not conferred by wealth or by title alone, but earned through the quiet, consistent architecture of a life well lived — the discipline instilled in the home, the wisdom dispensed at the family table, the integrity that asked for no audience to be practiced faithfully. Engineers build bridges and structures that outlast their builders; but the finest engineering Chief Aina-Double ever undertook was the construction of character in the lives of those he raised.

Perhaps nowhere is this legacy more visible than in the life and accomplishments of one of his sons, *Ambassador Olusiji Aina, PhD* — a man who has carried his father’s foundation into the global arena with distinction. Amb. Olusiji Aina has built a career as a development economist, sustainability and impact investing specialist, climate action enthusiast, writer, and international speaker.

His voice has echoed on some of the world’s most respected platforms — from the United Nations and the IMF Spring Meeting to the Global Youth Economic Opportunity Summit and the US-Africa Trade Commission, engaging thought leaders and policymakers on issues that shape our interconnected world. His humanitarian contributions have not gone unnoticed either, having been honoured as a Global Goodwill Ambassador by the Global Goodwill Ambassadors Foundation in 2020, and appointed Peace Ambassador by the United Nations Economic and Social Council

When we trace the roots of such a distinguished life back to their source, we inevitably arrive at the home — at the man whose name adorns this tribute. For no tree bears such fruit without deep, deliberate roots. In Amb. Olusiji Aina’s excellence, discipline, and global impact, we see reflected the values his late father sowed decades ago: diligence, vision, integrity, and an unshakeable belief that one’s work must outlive one’s years.

Chief Aina-Double, sir, you may have departed the physical realm twenty-five years ago, but your legacy walks the corridors of international summits, speaks at global platforms, and continues to touch lives across continents through the son you raised. This is the truest measure of immortality — not marble monuments but living legacies.

Today, as family, friends, and admirers gather to honour your memory, we do not mourn in sorrow alone, but celebrate in gratitude — for a life that gave so generously, and whose impact continues, twenty-five years later, to inspire generations yet unborn.

Rest well, Hero. Rest well, Mentor. Rest well, Father Figure. You are not forgotten — you are forever remembered.
