Two federal lawmakers from Kano State have defected from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing unresolved internal crises within their former party.
The defectors, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, representing Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya, and Abdullahi Sani Rogo, representing Karaye/Rogo Federal Constituency, formally announced their decision during Thursday’s plenary session at the House of Representatives.
Their defections were officially acknowledged by the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, who read their letters on the floor of the House.
The lawmakers pointed to persistent internal wrangling and lack of direction within the NNPP as the main reasons behind their switch to the APC.
