Umana Owen George, Head of Security at Greenview Nigeria Limited (Dangote Port, Lagos), has been honored with the prestigious Fellowship Award of the International Institute of Professional Security (IIPS).
The award was conferred upon him alongside other distinguished professionals from both public and private security sectors across the country, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to national security.
The conferment ceremony took place at the renowned Nicon Luxury Hotel, Garki Area 10, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The event attracted top security chiefs, personnel, academics, and other key stakeholders in Nigeria’s security sector. Themed “Intelligence in Hard and Soft Target Hardening,” the gathering served as a platform for deliberations on strengthening security frameworks in the country.
In his response, Umana George—who also serves as the Lagos State Branch Chairman of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, a community-based socio-cultural organization—expressed immense gratitude for the recognition. He described the fellowship as a significant honor that reflects his contributions to safeguarding lives and property in Nigeria.
“I am exhilarated by this honor from the Institute,” he stated. “This recognition not only acknowledges past efforts but also signals a greater responsibility toward ensuring a safer environment, both within my organization and across the nation.”
He further pledged to redouble his efforts in promoting security, seeing the award as a call to even higher service.
Umana dedicated the award to his immediate family—especially his beloved wife—as well as to the Dangote Group and the Lagos State chapter of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, the socio-cultural group to which he proudly belongs.
