UN-POLAC Honors Barr. Musa Onogo Idris with International Peace Advocate Award in Lokoja

The United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC) has conferred the prestigious International Peace Advocate award on Barr. Musa Onogo Idris, Director General of the Kogi State Office of the Public Defender and Citizen’s Rights Commission. The award ceremony took place in Lokoja today, recognizing Barr. Idris’s outstanding contributions to promoting peace and harmony in Kogi State.

Barr. Idris’s role as Director General of the Kogi State Public Defender and Citizen’s Rights Commission has been instrumental in promoting alternative conflict resolution, girl child rights preservation, and other critical initiatives that foster peace and stability in Kogi State. His dedication to defending human rights, restoring dignity, and promoting social harmony has earned him this esteemed recognition.

In his acceptance speech, Barr. Idris expressed gratitude to UN-POLAC for the honor, saying: “I am humbled to receive this award, and I appreciate the recognition of my efforts in promoting peace and harmony. I pledge to continue serving as a role model and promoting the values of peace, unity, and cooperation.”

The award highlights Barr. Idris’s commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and UNESCO Culture of Peace project, particularly in the areas of peace-making, conflict resolution, and human rights promotion.

Prof. Halo B. Eton, Director General of UN-POLAC, congratulated Barr. Idris on his appointment, stating: “We recognize that you exemplify the qualities of a true peace advocate, and we are confident that you will continue to make a positive impact in your community.”

Prof Halo also lauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for choosing an experienced professional as the Director General of the office Kogi State Public Defender and citizens Right commission.
