Your Excellency, For Your Attention
As Vice President Kashim Shettima continues to make waves on the global stage, it’s essential to explore how he can leverage his position to draw attention to Nigeria’s economy, security, and environmental concerns. Recently, Shettima participated in the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, where he represented Nigeria and presented the nation’s investment opportunities to a global audience and investors’ attention to come to Nigeria for Foreign Direct Investment (FDR). Hence, FDR is the backbone of stronger economic growth and development anywhere around the world (both advanced and economic emerging nations).
*Economy
Highlighting Nigeria’s Potential:
To draw attention to Nigeria’s economy, Vice President Shettima can emphasize the country’s potential for growth and development. With Nigeria’s economy showing signs of recovery, Shettima can showcase the government’s efforts to create a favorable business environment, encourage foreign investment, and promote economic diversification. But more effort must be done on insecurity, infrastructure, energy and tax reforms.
*Security
Addressing Global Concerns on Security:
On the security front, Shettima can use his platform to address global concerns and highlight Nigeria’s efforts to combat terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats. By sharing Nigeria’s experiences and strategies, Shettima can foster international cooperation and attract support for the country’s security initiatives. Security is the basic importance to investors anywhere around the world.
*Environment
Promoting Environmental Sustainability:
Environmental issues are another critical area where Vice President Shettima can make a significant impact. By highlighting Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable development, Shettima can draw attention to the country’s efforts to address climate change, promote renewable energy, and protect its natural resources. This particular interest will make a very loud ringing in the ears of investors to come to Nigeria for investment which will create more jobs for young Nigerians which will banish the stagflation in the country. Stagflation has been the root cause of creating riots in many economic emerging nations especially in the Global Southern Hemisphere of the world.
*Strategies for Success:
To successfully draw the attention of the world to Nigeria’s economy, security, and environmental concerns, Vice President Shettima can employ several strategies:
International Engagement:
Continue to participate in global forums like the WEF, United Nations General Assembly, and other international conferences to showcase Nigeria’s potential and address global concerns.
Diplomatic Outreach:
Foster strong relationships with other nations, international organizations, and global leaders to attract support, investment, and cooperation. Nigeria is a beautiful and attractive country with about 2 and ½ of the global population (237M population and largest black nation in the entire world.
Effective Communication:
Utilize various communication channels, including social media, to share Nigeria’s story, highlight its achievements, and address concerns about global political, economic and social activities, again the Vice President should tell the world that his country is the largest economy in Africa and among 20 in the global Southern Hemisphere of the world.
Collaboration with Stakeholders:
Work closely with stakeholders, including the private sector, civil society organizations, and international partners, to promote Nigeria’s interests and address common challenges.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, Vice President Kashim Shettima has a unique opportunity to draw the attention of the world to Nigeria’s economy, security, and environmental concerns. By highlighting Nigeria’s potential, especially rich with younger and energetic generations, addressing global concerns, and promoting sustainability, V/P Shettima can foster international cooperation, attract investment, and promote Nigeria’s interests on the global stage. Hence, emphasis should be given that Nigeria is a rich country with abundant resources, such as oil, gas, gold, diamond, agrarian economic interplay and many more opportunities.
