UNGA: Kogi reiterates commitment to attainment of SDGs by 2030.

… As Partners Seek $7trn Yearly To Meet SDG 2030 Goals

The Kogi State delegation attending the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), New York, have expressed Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo’s administration’s efforts to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

This is as Global development partners and Nigerian delegation at the Assembly also advocated strong partnerships, resource mobilisation in bridging the massive funding gaps that is threatening the accomplishments of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

The Kogi State delegation to this year’s Assembly, led by Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Dr. Mrs Ayoade Folashade Arike Phd, has other Economic Council Members, made the disclosure of the administration’s determination to gender equality, ending poverty and protecting the environment.

Some of the other delegates from Kogi State attending the 80th UNGA include; Asiwaju Asiru Idris, Hon Inda Aliyu Salami and Amb Olusiji Aina PhD.

The Head of the Kogi State delegation, Dr. Folashade, used the Assembly to disclose of the Kogi State Government’s efforts in meeting with the attainment of the Development Goals, reiterated Gov. Ododo’s cardinal priority to the attainment of SDGs in poverty reduction and hunger in the State.

She equally mentioned the State Government’s effort in realising human rights for all, achieving gender equality in governance and politics, pointing out that women in positions of Governance and Politics under the Gov. Ododo’s administration surpassed 30%, with Youth inclusiveness in governance now the sing song on the lips of the Citizens.

Dr. Folashade added that the administration in the State is committed to the realization of human rights for all, pointing out of the State Government actions through education, partnership and support to human rights organizations, using the legal system to seek justice and remedy, as well participating in democratic processes, as deliberate efforts by the Gov. Ododo’s administration to the attainment of SDGs 2030.

” Gov. Ododo is striving to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls, as well as ensuring the lasting protection of the planet and its natural resources”, assured that with the deliberate efforts of the State Government, it will attain the three dimension of economic, social and environmental objectives of SDG 2030.

Speaking at the UNGA Side Event on High-Level Executive Global Sustainable Investments and Grant Interventions 2025, Executive Vice-Chairman/CEO of Merited Negotiation Consulting and Chairman, Organising Committee Roundtable 2025, Kunle Yusuff, said an estimated $5–7 trillion is required annually between 2023 and 2030 to finance SDG-related investments worldwide.

Yusuff noted that global climate financing alone would require more than $15 trillion, with annual needs put at $7.2 trillion.

He added that artificial intelligence (AI) investments projected between 2025 and 2030 would demand over $10 trillion.

Yusuff warned that state governments, local governments, civil society organisations, and non-governmental organisations must not be passive if they intend to remain relevant in global development.

“We gather today at a critical juncture in human history, where global sustainability, equity, and prosperity demand bold action and collective commitment,” he said.

According to him, strategic investments in sustainable development were both a moral imperative and an economic necessity, with low-carbon transitions offering opportunities for growth, job creation, and poverty reduction.

He stressed that public-private partnerships and innovative financing models were central to closing the gaps, urging governments, civil society, and private actors to drive sustainable projects and social impact initiatives.

“The Global Agenda 2030 provides a roadmap for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

“In order to realise this vision, we must mobilise grant interventions and investments supporting sustainable development projects worldwide and foster public-private partnerships driving innovation and scaling social impact,” Yusuff said.

The event drew participation from senior Nigerian government officials, including Consular General of Nigeria in New York, Amb. Abubakar Jidda; Mr. Syndoph Endoni of Nigeria’s Permanent Mission to the UN; governors of Ondo, Benue, Kaduna, and Gombe States as well as global stakeholders such as Charles Kamin of RMC Advisory Group, Canada; Hope Sullivan, President/CEO of the Leon H. Sullivan Foundation; and Judith Oghenekaro of Gender for Education Empowerment & Entrepreneurship, USA.

The stakeholders pledged to strengthen coalitions advocating for climate action, social justice, and economic empowerment while stressing that mobilising sustainable investments remains the surest path to meeting SDG 2030 targets.
