Vice Chancellor, University of Jos, Professor Tanko Ishay commends the leadership of Plateau State Youth Council

The Vice Chancellor, University of Jos, Professor Tanko Ishaya has showered accolades on the Chairman of the Plateau State Youth Council, Comrade Panan Gonden for providing purposeful leadership for the council.

The VC made the commendations at the Council Affairs Chambers of the Institution,during a courtesy Visit to the Institution by the Youth Council.

The Youth who were led by the State Chairman, Panan Gonden and all his Executive Members, former PYC leaders both executive and Central Working Committee, National Association of Plateau state Students, University of Jos Chapter among other Youths that accompanied the Chairman.

The VC also congratulated the EXCO for their victory at their elections.

Appreciate their visit and identifying with the University.

According to him,he can see excellent leadership skills in the Chairman and urge him to sustain the tempo.

He noted that their mandate in the University is not only to mould the characters of the students but to train them for leadership roles in the society.

Prof. Ishaya described students as major stakeholders in the University and without them,he wouldn’t be VC.

“Our focus is to do whatever we can to promote their welfare.

“The Future of any Country, lies on the Youths.

“That’s why we granted your request for the visit acceleration because, plethora of organizations has written for same purposes.

The Vice Chancellor also announced to the delight of his guests the ongoing process in the University of building a world class sports Complex and the Institution is hosting NUGA game next year.

He appreciates the State Government for the Support both financially and morally to the Institution especially ahead of the NUGA games the University is hosting for the first time.

Earlier In his presentation,the Chairman of the Youth Council,Panan Gonden applauded the Management of the University for not increasing the tuition fee in the institution if not because of the wisdom, alot of students would have been thrown out of school.

We are here as critical stakeholders to partner with the Institution for its development.

We are mapping out strategies on critical issues and take it to government for actions within the University.

He draws the attention of the University’s management that the Council have considered to be a priority which Security is one.

According to the Chairman, security of lives and properties within the University Community is sine qua non to the survival and progress of the University.

The Council will engaged the host communities on robust discussions in order to create peaceful atmosphere within the University and PYC will not tolerate harassment of any student or staff.

He said Plateau state is the home of peace and tourism and it is very important we imbibe the culture of hospitality.

He commended the role of universities in formulating germane and critical policies that will drive developments in the Country but decried non implementation of such policies by the politicians.

The Youths will play a major role in ensuring that such policies are implemented.
