By Samuel Temiloluwa – Lokoja

Several groups across Kogi West Senatorial District have endorsed Senator Sunday Steve Karimi for another term, citing his impressive performance and dedication to the district’s development.

Additionally, Karimi allocated N100 million for a scholarship scheme for students in tertiary institutions in 2024 and increased the funding to N300 million for 2025 to support 3,000 students.

Student union bodies across the senatorial district also backed Karimi, appreciating his support for their welfare and education.

They noted that his initiatives have eased the financial burden on parents.

Hon. Mohammed Maikudi Yusuf, leader of the Lokoja APC Integrity Group, commended Karimi’s human and capital development initiatives, stating that Yagba federal constituency deserves another term under his leadership.

Senator Karimi has facilitated employment opportunities for youths and women in federal agencies and paramilitary institutions.

He also initiated the rehabilitation and reconstruction of federal roads, including the Kabba-Egbe-Ilorin road which has been long-standing issue in the district. Karimi is also of the opinion to seek alternative funding plans by exploring public-private partnership to fund the projects.

He facilitated the construction of over 20 solar-powered boreholes in Lokoja and supported 75 new boreholes and 60 water schemes across Kogi West, valued at N1.24 billion.

On security, it is on records that Senator Karimi constructed and handed over a fully furnished military base to the Nigerian Army in Egbe, Yagba West local government area to assist in fighting insecurity in the district.

Aside from the scholarship scheme to support the students, he also empowered 400 traders with millions of naira and supported 1,000 traders with N100,000 each across seven local governments, as well as 50 women cooperative societies.

Karimi is building a cottage hospital at Edo in Kakanda Ward to support the health care delivery in the area.

As member of the Senate, he sponsored bills, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (Amendment) Bill 2023 and the Dishonored Cheques Repeal and Re-enactment Bill 2023.

Overall, Karimi’s performance justifies another term, given his dedication to empowering constituents, improving infrastructure, and promoting national development.

Based on his impressive performances, many groups have thrown their weight behind his second-term bid, praising his commitment to Kogi West Senatorial District’s development.
