Yagba, Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu Students Benefit from Abejide Foundation Scholarship
The Leke Abejide Foundation has disbursed over ₦150 million to cover the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC) registration fees and associated administrative costs for students in private secondary schools across Yagba, Kabba/Bunu, and Ijumu Federal Constituency in Kogi State.
This initiative, aimed at ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder eligible students from sitting for the crucial examination, forms part of the foundation’s long-standing commitment to promoting education, youth empowerment, and social development in the constituency.
Founded in 2010, the foundation has consistently implemented programs supporting vulnerable members of society, including widows, youths, and students, through educational, empowerment, and humanitarian interventions.
Speaking on the disbursement, the Director-General of the foundation, Engr. Ayobami Dada, explained that the initiative is designed to provide equal access to education and remove financial barriers associated with WAEC registration.
“The intervention reflects the sustained commitment of our founder, Rep. Leke Abejide, to youth development and educational advancement across the constituency,” Dada said. “It is part of a broader mission to create opportunities for young people whose ambitions may be constrained by financial hardship.”
The program is inclusive, covering all eligible private school students across the constituency, regardless of family background or social status. Engr. Dada noted that the foundation has consistently funded WAEC registration and other human development programs for over a decade, ensuring that students have a fair opportunity to compete academically with their peers nationwide.
Parents of the beneficiaries lauded the initiative as timely and impactful, highlighting that the foundation’s annual support has significantly eased financial burdens and ensured equitable access to education. Benefiting students also expressed gratitude, pledging to remain dedicated to their studies and honor the investment made in their education.
The disbursement process was supervised by Engr. Ayobami Dada alongside the Secretary of the foundation, who presented payment drafts to the schools to complete the necessary administrative procedures.
Over the years, this annual intervention has become a cornerstone of educational support in Yagba, Kabba/Bunu, and Ijumu, earning recognition as a significant contribution to human capital development and youth empowerment within the region.
