2025 KDU AGM: Oba Solomon Owoniyi Preaches Peace and Unity
The Obaro of Kabba and Chairman of the Okun Area Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Solomon Owoniyi, has called on sons and daughters of Kabba-Oweland to close ranks for the overall development of the community, stressing that nothing meaningful can be achieved without working together.
Addressing the 2025 Annual General Meeting of the Kabba Development Union (KDU) at the Kabba Civic Center, Oba Owoniyi expressed disappointment over poor attendance, attributing it to lack of publicity.
He urged the union to do more to inform people about important events.
The monarch appealed to those with grievances to sheathe their swords and work towards community growth.
He commended the local organizing committee of Kabba Cultural Day 2025 for a job well done and suggested they handle the 2026 edition.
He also used the occasion to correct the notion that he ordered the closure of churches and mosques, stressing that he doesn’t have the capacity to give such orders.
Rather, it was an advisory note that any church or mosque that doesn’t have the capacity to protect its members should stay away from such gatherings.
He said it is the state government that ordered the cancellation of night gatherings due to emerging security threats from bandits and terrorists groups
He advised people to always adhere to directives and instructions, stressing that a meeting was held in Kabba with groups including CAN to inform their members of the pending danger based on security reports.
KDU President-General Alhaji Zackare Ejibunu promised to work with stakeholders to fast-track development and resolve perceived grievances.
He said his leadership has reached out to aggrieved groups and expects an official handover soon.
