Abdulrasaq Abubakar Toyin University, Ilorin Appoints Dr. E.D. Obafemi As Acting Registrar
The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Dr. Emmanuel Dada Obafemi, popularly called E.D. Obafemi, has been appointed as the acting Registrar of Abdulrasaq Abubakar Toyin University (AATU), a newly licensed private not-for-profit institution located at Oke-Ogba, Gamon, Ilorin, Kwara State.
Mr. Obafemi’s appointment was announced at the maiden meeting of the University’s Board of Trustees (BOT) held on Wednesday in Abuja, alongside Hon. Justice (Dr.) Isa Ayo Salami, OFR, CFR, former President, Court of Appeal, who was appointed as the Chairman of the BOT, and Prof. Abdulrasheed Na’Allah, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Abuja, as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of the new Institution.
In a report published by INCNews247 on Friday, the Board of Trustees comprises notable individuals, including Prof. Popoola Ademola Oladapo, Prof. Angela Freeman Miri (former Vice-Chancellor, FUL), Prof. Umaru Alhaji Pate (Kaigamma of Adamawa), and Shehu Ahmed Moyosore Esq, while the University Council, led by Prof. Na’Allah, includes Hajia Halimatu Yusuf, Alhaji Kamaru Ibitoye Yusuf (Kamwire), and Mr. Adam Nuru as external members.
While reacting to the appointments, the founder of AATU, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Abubakar Toyin, expressed gratitude to the appointees for accepting to serve in the various capacities. He noted that the appointments were based on the individuals’ track record, credibility, and integrity, as well as their commitment to educational development of Nigeria and selfless service to humanity.
Mr. E.D. Obafemi, a seasoned university administrator and professional football referee, served meritoriously and retired as the Registrar and Secretary to Council, University of Ilorin, Kwara State between 2013 and 2018, having joined the services of the foremost university in 1981 and rose through the ranks to become the Registrar.
Having previously served as the pioneer Registrar of Salem University, Lokoja in 2008/2009, the FIFA-graded referee (1991-1998) who officiated in FIFA U20 World Cup in 1995, equally served as the Chairman of the Association of Registrars of Nigerian Universities (ARNU) between 2016 and 2018.
