Nigeria’s Farmer Governor Calls for a New World Order to Empower Emerging Economies
Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has advocated for a shift in the global order to empower emerging economies like Nigeria. In an exclusive interview with Sputnik Africa, a Russian state-owned news agency, Governor Bago emphasized the need for a new global balance, citing the changing trade dynamics worldwide.
He welcomed the emergence of a multipolar world, where African countries can assert their sovereignty and have a stronger voice in international affairs. According to him, this new order would promote fairness, adherence to global best practices, and provide opportunities for nations to engage in meaningful dialogue and negotiations.
Governor Bago highlighted the strategic benefits of Nigeria’s membership in the BRICS platform, noting that it would expand trade opportunities with member states like Brazil and Russia. He also called for deeper cooperation between Nigeria and Russia in key sectors such as agriculture, mining, education, and healthcare.
The governor emphasized that partnerships with Russian companies would drive job creation, skills development, and large-scale investment. He expressed optimism that Niger State’s rich natural resources and agricultural potential could be unlocked through joint ventures with Russia, aligning with Nigeria’s food security goals.
