The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Abdurazaq Olusegun Abdulkadir, has confirmed that the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, officially rejoined the party on March 15, 2026.
Abdulkadir disclosed that Abejide’s return took place at Ward 04 in Yagba East, attracting widespread participation from party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters who turned out in large numbers to receive the federal lawmaker.
He further noted that Abejide hails from Alu/Igbagun Ward of Yagba East Local Government Area, underscoring his deep-rooted connection to the constituency and longstanding political relevance at the grassroots.
According to the APC chairman, the lawmaker’s return marks a significant moment for the party in Yagba, describing it as a strategic consolidation of progressive forces ahead of future political engagements.
Abejide, a former member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), had earlier indicated that his decision to realign politically was driven by the need to secure greater development opportunities and stronger representation for the people of Yagba Federal Constituency.
Party officials said his homecoming has been widely welcomed across the constituency, noting that his track record in office and longstanding relationship with the people continue to earn him broad support.
The APC leadership in Yagba East expressed confidence that Abejide’s return would further strengthen the party’s structure and enhance its capacity to deliver meaningful development in the area.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to working with the lawmaker to deepen grassroots engagement, expand empowerment programmes, and attract more federal presence to the constituency.
Abejide’s return to the APC is coming amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with analysts projecting that his influence could play a key role in shaping the political direction of Kogi West.
