Abejide Urges Supporters to Leave Faleke Out of ‘Unhealthy Politics’

Leke Abejide, a member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Yagba East, West, and Mopamuro federal constituency in Kogi State, has called on his supporters to refrain from involving his colleague, James Faleke, in divisive political discourse.

In a statement issued Wednesday in Abuja, Abejide responded to political comments linking Faleke to speculations surrounding the 2027 elections in Yagba Federal Constituency.

Abejide dismissed these claims as baseless and reaffirmed his focus on governance and improving the welfare of his constituents.

“I am very sure and confident Hon. Faleke did not send them to utter all those words credited to him. They are only using his name to curry favor for themselves,” Abejide said, urging political actors to avoid actions that could disrupt unity and progress.

Abejide, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Customs, expressed his respect for Faleke, stating that his colleague would not endorse such actions.

He emphasized the importance of integrity in political discourse, warning against distractions that could hinder development efforts.

“Please and please leave Hon. Abiodun Faleke out of this unhealthy politics some people started in 2024 December for an election that is still in 2027,” Abejide added.

The lawmaker criticized individuals he described as “political jobbers” for attempting to divert attention from governance to premature politicking. He stressed his commitment to executing his constituency’s first budget for his second term and alleviating the hardships faced by his constituents.

“My focus remains on governance to alleviate the suffering of our people,” Abejide said.
