Abejide’s Homecoming: Yagba Set for Grand Political Gathering in Isanlu
By Our Correspondent
All roads will lead to Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, as the people of Yagba Federal Constituency prepare to receive the member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Leke Joseph Abejide, in a grand homecoming and welcoming ceremony.
The event, according to former Kogi State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Idris Omede, CIK, FNMA, FNIPR, is expected to formally herald the commencement of Abejide’s campaign activities for another term in the Green Chambers of the National Assembly.
Abejide is seeking to return to the House of Representatives in the next National Assembly to continue representing Yagba Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Describing Abejide as “the legislator with impact, ability and capacity,” Omede said the lawmaker’s representation has been marked by interventions in several areas of development.
According to him, Abejide has made notable contributions to human capital development, student development and infrastructural development, with interventions covering roads, water, security architecture and equipment, as well as other areas of societal importance.
Omede further stated that Abejide’s interventions have not been limited to his immediate constituency, stressing that his engagements and relationships have also extended to other constituencies and beyond Kogi State.
He also noted Abejide’s support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, particularly towards their continued political journey in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on the significance of the October 8 homecoming, Omede said the level of preparation and enthusiasm surrounding the event was an indication of the importance attached to Abejide’s political movement across Yagba Federal Constituency.
He said the excitement surrounding the event was unprecedented, while describing the eagerness of supporters as unparalleled.
According to him, the engagement and involvement of stakeholders across the three local government areas that make up the constituency have also been significant in preparing for what he described as a peaceful and memorable gathering.
Omede said the political movement had demonstrated that “people matter” and that people-oriented projects should remain central to democratic representation.
He also emphasised the importance of constitutional provisions and respect for established democratic processes, stressing that no political ambition should undermine the Constitution or accepted democratic principles.
As the political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, Omede said members and supporters of Team Leke would converge on Isanlu in their numbers to express their support and loyalty to Abejide.
He expressed confidence in the importance of the homecoming as the campaign for the next National Assembly begins in earnest, while congratulating Abejide in advance on his aspiration to return to the Green Chambers.
Dr. Idris Omede, CIK, FNMA, FNIPR, a former Commissioner of Health in Kogi State, signed the statement.
