Abuja Airport Shuts Down Due to Private Jet’s Tyre Burst
The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja was temporarily shut down on Thursday after a private jet experienced a tyre burst upon landing, blocking the runway.
However, authorities have confirmed that the aircraft has been cleared, and normal operations have resumed.
The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m., prompting a temporary shutdown of the runway.
Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), confirmed the development, stating that the disruption was caused by the tyre burst.
“The aircraft has been cleared off the runway, and operations are back to normal,” Achimugu said.
It’s worth noting that this incident highlights the importance of aviation safety and the prompt response of airport authorities in ensuring minimal disruption to flights.
