Adakeke Commends Ododo, INEC Over Restoration of Suppressed Kogi Assembly Constituencies.
The Secretary of the Kogi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Alhassan Salisu Adakeke, has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for what he described as his courage and commitment toward the restoration of suppressed State Assembly constituencies in Kogi State.
Hon. Adakeke gave the commendation while accompanying officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on a guided visit for the constituency delimitation exercise aimed at restoring the Bassa-Nge/Egbira Mozum State Constituency.
Prominent personalities among the visiting team were, Hon Mutari Muhammad Shaibu, Hon commissioner for commerce and industry, Hon Yusuf Acheku, former secretary BASSA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, Hon Muhammad Omale Idris, and Hon Musa Dauda who were on ground to demonstrate their loyalty and support to the Government of Kogi State under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
According to him, Governor Ododo’s determination and support for the restoration process demonstrate his commitment to strengthening democracy and ensuring equitable grassroots representation.
He stated that, the governor’s intervention had rekindled hope among the people of the affected constituency, who had long awaited fair political representation.
“Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has shown exemplary leadership and political courage in the pursuit of justice and democratic inclusion for the people of Bassa-Nge and Egbira Mozum,” Adakeke said.
He added that the governor’s actions would further deepen democratic participation and enhance development at the grassroots level.
“The people of the Bassa-Nge/Egbira Mozum State Constituency will remain grateful to His Excellency for his well-directed and politically rewarding efforts toward restoring their voice in the State Assembly,” he said.
Hon. Adakeke also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its proactive handling of the constituency restoration process, particularly in implementing the court judgment that ordered the restoration of the suppressed constituencies.
He specifically commended the Resident Electoral Commissioner and INEC leadership for ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the delimitation exercise.
“We must appreciate INEC for its professionalism and commitment to democratic principles. The Commission’s swift compliance with the court order is a testament to its dedication to justice and credible representation,” he noted.
He further urged stakeholders and residents of the constituency to support the process and maintain peace as processes geared towards the full restoration of the constituency is ongoing.
The constituency delimitation exercise is part of ongoing efforts by INEC to comply with judicial directives aimed at restoring constituencies previously suppressed in the state.
