Anchor International Schools: Kogi Water Resources Commissioner Institutes N200,000 Yearly Awards to Best Students in Mathematics, Physics, Their Heads of Departments

… Award runs to 2031, As Justice Commissioner Also Institutes Awards For Literature, Government Student’s.

As a means of encouraging the study of Mathematics and Physics by Secondary School Students in Anchor International School Lokoja, the Kogi State Commissioner For Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk has
endowed the best Students in Mathematics and Physics, as well as their heads of department with a yearly sum of N50,000 each from this year up to 2031.

Similarly, his Justice colleague Commissioner, Yunus Muiz Abdullahi SAN, has also as a way to encouraging the study of English Literature and Government subjects in the school, made a life endowment to students and head teachers of the subjects in the school.

The duo of Engr. Farouk and Yunusa made the disclosure at the 9th graduation, Speech and Prize Giving day of Anchor International Schools Lokoja held today, explaining that the gesture is in line with the vision of Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo to encouraging learning in the State.

According to the Commissioner’s this is with the view to Encouraging the study of Science courses leading to producing more Engineers and Lawyers in the Country.

The Kogi State Commissioner For Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk while instituting the Award of the Award, said it will encourage the Country to have more Engineers

According to Engr Farouk, the award is designed to improve practice and boost learning of Science related courses, particularly the study of Engineering.

According to the Commissioner for Water Resources, ” the place of Engineering in the modern society cannot be over emphasized. No nation can thrive with Engineering and Technology driven courses”.

” Without the study of Engineering, our country will be lost in designs and production of what is the direction that the world is heading to. We need students to take to Engineering. It is crucial for societal advancement and solving global challenges. It drives technological innovation, shapes infrastructure, and improves quality of life across various sectors. Engineers apply scientific and mathematical principles to create solutions for everyday problems and future challenges, making their work essential to progress and development.

In the words of the Commissioner for Justice, “the study of Government and English Literature, remains pivotal as it offers distinct yet valuable benefits”.

“Government study, leading to producing more lawyers, provides a framework for understanding how societies are organized and governed, equipping individuals with the knowledge to participate effectively in civic life”.

“Literature, on the other hand, enhances critical thinking, empathy, and cultural understanding by exploring diverse perspectives and human experiences. Together, these disciplines foster informed, engaged, and well-rounded citizens”.

In his remarks, the Chairman, Parents Teachers Association of Anchor International Schools Lokoja, Mr. Abu Micheal, lauded the giant strides Anchor International Schools has witnessed over the years”.

He lauded the immeasurable contributions of the Management in ensuring that the school in this year’s JAMB examination, recorded all the students scoring over 200 with the highest, 78, as very impressive.

He equally praised the school for the International scholarship it attained for students of the school to study in Final University Turkey in the next academic session.

In her remarks, the Proprietress, Mrs Helen Okpanachi, said the school has earned reputation in moulding character and learning, thus producing global leaders, expressed appreciation for the cooperation of the parents and students of the school.

Highlights of the program was the presentation of the sum of N200,000. Each best students in Mathematics and Physics, as well as their heads of department, received N50,000 by the Commissioner for Water Resources.
