APC SAK: Barau’s Kano North Grassroots Machine Gathers Momentum as Women, Party Supporters Pledge 2027 Loyalty.

ABUJA — The political machinery of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano North Senatorial District appears to be gathering fresh momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, as women’s groups, party support organisations and political aides from different parts of the district have reaffirmed their commitment to delivering the ruling party at the polls.
The renewed mobilisation came to the fore on Thursday when the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, received three separate delegations from Kano North Senatorial District at the National Assembly in Abuja.
The groups, drawn from Bichi and Dawakin Tofa Local Government Areas, used the occasion to commend the Deputy Senate President for what they described as his interventions in education, religious infrastructure, empowerment and grassroots development, while pledging to intensify mobilisation for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

The development is being viewed by political observers as another indication of the growing importance of grassroots structures in Kano’s increasingly competitive political environment, where political parties are already positioning themselves for the 2027 presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Assembly contests.
The first delegation comprised five women’s organisations representing communities across the 11 wards of Bichi Local Government Area. The delegation was led by Hajiya Yardada Maikano Bichi, former Commissioner for Women Affairs in Kano State and a veteran women’s mobiliser.
Hajiya Yardada, who serves as Senator Barau’s Special Adviser on Women Affairs, was accompanied by leaders of the women’s associations as part of ongoing grassroots consultations and mobilisation activities across Kano North and beyond.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Hajiya Tsahare Yunusa said women in Bichi, Kano North and across the 44 local government areas of Kano State were prepared to mobilise massively for the APC in the 2027 elections.
She specifically referenced the scheduled dates of January 16 and February 6, 2027, for the presidential/National Assembly and governorship/State Assembly elections respectively, pledging that the women’s groups would work towards securing victory for APC candidates.
The women leaders also pledged their loyalty and commitment to the party, promising to take the APC’s message to communities, wards and polling units.
The second delegation was made up of members of the Bichi APC SAK Dan Shehu Organisation, led by Alhaji Usaini Sarkan Kasuwa.
The organisation expressed its support for Senator Barau and the APC, while promising to strengthen its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the general elections.
In recognition of what they described as the Deputy Senate President’s outstanding performance and interventions in Kano North, the group presented him with an award for “Outstanding Performance in Kano North Senatorial District.”
The delegation also presented requests for additional interventions in the area.
Responding to the requests, Senator Barau pledged to renovate a school, construct a mosque and renovate another mosque in the area, further reinforcing his constituency intervention agenda.
The third delegation comprised political aides from Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area under the aegis of the Consolidated SLA/SA Forum, led by Hon. Rabiu Suleiman Dawanau Danbomboy.
The group commended Senator Barau for what it described as his numerous interventions and contributions to the development of Dawakin Tofa and Kano North.
They also presented him with an award titled “In Appreciation of His Exemplary Leadership, Tremendous Interventions and Selfless Service to the Nation.”
Accepting the commendations and awards, Senator Barau thanked the three delegations for their support, cooperation and mobilisation efforts for the APC.
He urged them not to relent, but to intensify their grassroots engagements as the 2027 elections draw closer.
The Deputy Senate President stressed the importance of maintaining contact with the people at the grassroots, saying sustained mobilisation, unity and effective communication would be critical to the party’s success at the forthcoming elections.
The meeting also featured another round of Senator Barau’s empowerment initiatives for his constituents, with the donation of four cars, 55 motorcycles, refrigerators, a Hajj seat and cash to beneficiaries.
The empowerment programme, according to political observers, forms part of the senator’s broader strategy of maintaining direct contact with constituents while providing economic and social support to individuals and groups within his senatorial district.
The latest political gathering has further highlighted the increasingly organised nature of APC’s grassroots mobilisation in Kano North, particularly as the 2027 elections approach.
Kano, one of Nigeria’s most politically influential states, is expected to remain a major battleground in the next general elections, with the APC and opposition parties already working to consolidate their structures across the state’s 44 local government areas.
For Senator Barau, who occupies one of the most influential positions in the National Assembly, the sustained visits by grassroots organisations from Kano North also provide a platform for demonstrating his political reach and constituency engagement.
With the election season still ahead, however, the real test for the various political structures will be whether the pledges made during such meetings can be translated into sustained ward-level mobilisation and, ultimately, votes at polling units.
For now, the message from the three Kano North delegations is clear: the APC grassroots campaign is already taking shape, with supporters declaring their readiness to take the party’s mobilisation from the leadership level down to the grassroots.
