A blue Toyota Corolla with registration number GWA 636 CH was subsequently found abandoned on the road.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Hon. Ishaq Yunusa, was found dead inside the car, while another occupant was reportedly taken into the bush by the attackers.

Confirming the incident in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Command, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, said security agencies had intensified operations in the area in an effort to rescue the abducted victim and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

She said security personnel were currently combing the surrounding forest while the Command continued to pursue all available leads in connection with the incident.

According to the statement, the remains of the deceased have been evacuated to Grimard Hospital, Anyigba, for autopsy as investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc, mni, has directed sustained operational efforts to secure the affected corridor and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The Police Command also appealed to motorists and residents along the Itobe–Ochadamu route to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the Police and other security agencies.
