ABUJA, October 15, 2026.
The organisation of former Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo, popularly known as ATM Gwarzo, has pledged to mobilise support for all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general elections, with a commitment to take the party’s campaign to every nook and cranny of Kano North Senatorial District.
The pledge was made when a delegation of the ATM Gwarzo Organisation, led by Alhaji Magaji Lambu, visited the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, at his office in the National Assembly, Abuja.
The visit followed an empowerment programme organised by Senator Barau for supporters of the former minister in Kano on Sunday. The event was represented by the Chairman of the APC campaign committee for Kano North Senatorial District, Engr. Rabiu Suleiman Bichi.
Speaking during the meeting, Lambu disclosed that the delegation was at the National Assembly on the express directive of Hon. ATM Gwarzo, whom he described as a straightforward and honest friend and brother of Senator Barau.
He said the former minister had directed members of his organisation to work towards the success of all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections through sustained grassroots mobilisation, political engagement and community outreach.
According to him, the organisation is determined to intensify its mobilisation efforts across Kano North Senatorial District to strengthen the APC’s grassroots presence and ensure that the party’s message reaches voters at the ward and polling-unit levels.
Lambu also commended Senator Barau for his commitment to the welfare and economic empowerment of his constituents, particularly his monthly N100,000 business support initiative and the ongoing grassroots empowerment programme targeting women and men across the wards in Kano North.
Under the ward-based initiative, 10 women and five men in each ward receive N10,000 each to support their immediate needs and small-scale economic activities.
He described the interventions as commendable efforts capable of providing financial relief to beneficiaries, supporting small businesses and stimulating economic activities within local communities.
The delegation’s remarks highlighted the importance of combining political mobilisation with practical interventions aimed at improving the welfare of ordinary citizens.
Also speaking, Ibrahim Abdullahi Yawale Gwarzo described the delegation as members of the inner caucus of Hon. ATM Gwarzo, reaffirming that their visit to Senator Barau was undertaken at the former minister’s directive.
The meeting was attended by Hon. Yusuf A. Yusuf Tabuka, Federal Commissioner of the National Assembly Service Commission; Hon. Farouk Lawan, former member representing Bagwai/Shanono Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives; Hon. Kabiru Ado Lakwaya, Special Assistant to Senator Barau on Youth and Sports; and other political stakeholders.
In his remarks, Senator Barau expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the meeting and thanked Hon. ATM Gwarzo for his continued support, understanding and commitment to the development of Kano State and the wider northern region.
The Deputy Senate President described his relationship with the former minister as a longstanding friendship built on mutual respect, trust and a shared commitment to the progress of their people.
He noted that their relationship dated back to their youthful days, adding that they had consistently shared a common vision for the development of their communities and the region.
Senator Barau also acknowledged ATM Gwarzo’s contributions to the growth and success of the APC, expressing confidence that greater opportunities lay ahead for the former minister by the grace of Almighty Allah.
He urged members of the organisation and other party stakeholders to sustain the spirit of unity, loyalty and cooperation, stressing that effective grassroots mobilisation would be crucial to the APC’s performance in the forthcoming general elections.
The Deputy Senate President emphasised that electoral success required commitment at every level of the party’s structure, from polling units and wards to local government areas, senatorial districts and states.
He echoed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s consistent call for party stakeholders to work diligently in their respective areas to strengthen the APC and deliver electoral victories.
Senator Barau further acknowledged the contributions of former APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, to the party’s development and efforts towards consolidating its political strength.
Political observers have often identified unity among party leaders, cooperation between political groups and sustained grassroots engagement as important factors in building a strong political organisation. The meeting between Senator Barau and representatives of the ATM Gwarzo Organisation therefore underscored the importance of collaboration among APC stakeholders in Kano State, particularly in Kano North, ahead of the next general elections.
Beyond the immediate political implications, the discussions also drew attention to the role of empowerment programmes in strengthening relationships between political representatives and their constituents.
For the APC in Kano North, the commitment announced by the delegation presents an opportunity to coordinate mobilisation efforts, deepen engagement with communities and encourage cooperation among supporters of different political leaders within the party.
The meeting ended with a renewed call for unity, collective responsibility and sustained commitment to the party’s objectives.
Senator Barau expressed optimism that continued cooperation among APC leaders and stakeholders would strengthen the party’s grassroots structures, promote development and advance the interests of the people of Kano State and the northern region.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working with party leaders, political organisations and community stakeholders to consolidate the APC’s presence across Kano North and support initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people.
