Board of Ajaokuta Neighborhood Watch lauds Ajaokuta LGA DPO, calls for support for community policing
A group under the auspices of Ajaokuta Neighborhood Watch has sent a message of commendation to the Ajaokuta Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) SP Sule Musa
and calls for support for community policing in the Local Government Area.
The Board through its management committee Chairman, SP Egbejene Rtd. gave the commendations in a statement made available to journalists in Lokoja on Tuesday.
“Ajaokuta Neighborhood Watch is highly pleased with the performance of the DPO of Ajaokuta LGA who led his team in the rescue of some kidnap victims in the State. His courageousness and determination in combating crimes and criminalities should be sustained. Through him and other gallant security operatives, the rescue of our Son’s and daughters who were kidnapped by enemies of the State was rescued”.
Egbejene called on members of the House of Representatives of Ajaokuta constituency, past and present national assembly lawmakers, to mobilize support for community policing in the constituency to prevent the Zamfara State experience in Ajaokuta Local Government Area.
The group also called on the State Security Adviser to provide support to the Military, Police and other security agencies to do bush clearance within the forest of Ajaokuta LGA immediately, as it is clear that the government needs to do more to deescalate the kidnapping crisis that has taken over Ajaokuta LGA.
While looking forward to community policing effort to provide intelligence to de-escalate kidnapping along Ajaokuta- Geregu- Itobe, Ajaokuta- Adogo-Okene and Ajaokuta- Jimgbe-Lokoja roads, the Ajaokuta Neighborhood Watch recalled that combined security operatives comprising the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force and local vigilantes last weekend rescued 24 kidnapped victims at Adogo, under Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State last week.
The group gathered that, during the sad incident, one young lady lost her life and many injured as many women and children were kidnapped within Ajaokuta LGA in the last one week
Egbejene decried that, there is unverified intelligence that bandits have been empowered to unleash mayhem along the Ajaokuta routes.
“The Ajaokuta Neighborhood Watch called on individuals, Associations and corporate organisations with interest of their families, friends, members and staff in the area to pass the information for carefulness” he stated.
