Breaking News: Retired Major Joe Ajayi Dies in Kidnappers’ Den Despite N10m Ransom Payment
A retired Army Major, Joe Ajayi, who was kidnapped at his residence in Odo-Ape Bunu in Kabba-Bunu local government area of Kogi State few weeks ago has died in the kidnappers’ den despite a ransom of N10 million being paid for his rescue.
According to reports, the tragic incident occurred when the kidnappers demanded additional concessions that couldn’t be met, specifically related to accessing his medications.
However, as soon as they discovered that he couldn’t survive, they sent an intelligence message to negotiate the ransom, knowing fully well that he was dying at that moment due to his inaccessibility his drugs.

The reports further revealed that the family, believing he was still alive, quickly agreed to pay ten million naira (N10m) for his rescue.
Once the ransom was paid, the kidnappers directed the family to where his lifeless body was lying.
The retired army officer’s remains have since been deposited in the mortuary at Specialist Hospital in Kabba.
The news of his death has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation, with many calling for justice to be served.
