Breaking news: Rt Hon Leke Abejide Wins APC Primary in Igbagun-Alu-Oranre Ward 04 with 401 Votes
Member of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Leke Abejide, has secured victory in the All Progressives Congress [APC] primary election for Yagba federal Constituency held in his ward, Igbagun-Alu-Oranre Ward Ward 4, polling 401 votes.
The primary, conducted on Saturday as part of the party’s grassroots selection process, saw Abejide emerge as the clear frontrunner in the ward. Party officials and observers at the venue described the exercise as peaceful and orderly.
The total number of registered voters was 405, with 401 accepted votes. Rt Hon Leke Abejide secured all 401 votes, while his opponent received none.
Abejide, who represents Yagba Federal Constituency, is seeking to retain his mandate ahead of the 2027 general elections. His win in Ward 4 is being viewed by supporters as an early indication of strong grassroots support within the constituency.
Party members in the ward cited his track record in attracting constituency projects, supporting youth and women empowerment programs, and maintaining direct engagement with constituents as reasons for the overwhelming vote.
Speaking after the results were announced, a party chieftain in Ward 4 said the outcome reflects confidence in Abejide’s leadership and his continued relevance in Kogi West politics.
The APC is expected to consolidate results from other wards as it finalizes its candidate list for the upcoming elections.
