The overall total for Leke Abejide is 2002 votes while Babagbemi Adeola Joseph polled 842 votes.

Political observers across the constituency described the outcome as an “unprecedented victory,” noting that the exercise further strengthened confidence in the direct primary process as a true reflection of the wishes of party faithful.

The primary election, which was conducted peacefully across the federal constituency, witnessed an impressive turnout of APC members who queued to cast their votes in what many described as one of the most transparent internal exercises in recent political history in the area.

Speaking with journalists after the exercise at Takete Ide/Otafun Ward in Mopamuro Local Government Area, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, commended party members for their orderly conduct and described the process as credible and seamless.

“You can see how excited party members are to exercise their rights to nominate candidates of the party for the general elections. It was hitch-free, free, and fair across Mopamuro Local Government Area,” he said.

“In this ward, Rt Hon. Leke Abejide scored 892 votes while his only challenger scored 2 votes. It was the same trend across the 10 wards of Mopamuro Local Government Area. We thank party members for being peaceful throughout the exercise. Our party members have spoken and their voices have been respected,” he added.

Party leaders and stakeholders in Yagba East also hailed the conduct of the exercise, saying the peaceful atmosphere and massive participation reflected the confidence of APC members in the leadership and representation of Abejide.

A party chieftain in Yagba East, Hon. Emmanuel Obaro, described the outcome as “a reward for impactful representation and sustained grassroots engagement,” adding that the lawmaker had maintained a strong connection with the people across communities in the constituency.

Similarly, stakeholders in Yagba West noted that the margin of victory recorded in the primary election demonstrated the unity of the party and the popularity of the lawmaker among APC members.

“This is beyond politics. The people have spoken loudly through the ballot. The turnout and results across the wards show that Rt Hon. Leke Abejide enjoys widespread support because of his performance and accessibility to the people,” a party official in Yagba West stated.

Party members who monitored the exercise in different polling centres commended the peaceful conduct of supporters and electoral officials, expressing optimism that the APC would emerge stronger ahead of the general elections.

The results from across the 34 wards are expected to further consolidate Abejide’s position as the APC candidate for the Yagba Federal Constituency seat in the forthcoming general elections.

The APC returning officer for Yagba Federal Constituency Primary, Dr Klinsman Femi commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise.
