Senator Sunday Karimi Remains the Best Choice for Kogi West to Consolidate on the Gains
Stakeholders across Kogi West Senatorial District have said that Senator Sunday Karimi remains the best candidate to sustain and consolidate the developmental gains recorded in the district since 2023.
The call comes as political activities begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 general elections, with discussions on representation, continuity, and effective federal presence taking centre stage in Kogi West.
Supporters argue that Karimi’s tenure in the Senate has been marked by visible interventions in infrastructure, education, health, and youth empowerment across the seven local government areas of Lokoja, Kogi/Koton Karfe, Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Yagba East, Yagba West, and Mopamuro.
Community leaders point to his role in facilitating road rehabilitation projects, attracting federal agencies to the district, and sponsoring bills and motions that address the socio-economic challenges facing his constituents. They note that his experience as a former member of the House of Representatives has given him the legislative leverage to engage effectively at the national level.
“Senator Karimi understands the terrain and the needs of Kogi West. What we need now is continuity so that the projects and programs already started can be completed and expanded,” said a community leader in Kabba/Bunu LGA.
Youth and women groups in the district have also thrown their weight behind the argument for consolidation, saying that changing representation at this stage could slow down ongoing federal interventions. They stressed the need for a stable voice in Abuja to attract more dividends of democracy to the district.
Political analysts observe that Kogi West has historically struggled with fragmented representation, and that maintaining a senator with established networks in the National Assembly could improve the district’s chances of securing federal projects and appointments.
His endorsement by stakeholders in the Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency is seen as a signal that the senator will be returned unopposed as the most valuable aspirant capable of delivering votes for the party.
