Celebration In Jos:As Cooperators Observes International Cooperative Day

The Tin City of Jos was on Saturday, adorned by various Cooperative societies banners in Plateau State as they celebrate the Annual International Cooperative Day,the Celebration was preceded with a one day workshop.
The event started at the Secretariat junction,where they match to Obasanjo Model Primary School, venue of the occasion .
In his welcoming address, the PLASCOFED President, Comrade Dangwong Daniel Pam,said the theme for thie year is very apt, because of the global challenges, cooperatives were founded on the principles of maintaining peace and education for her members.
The President also emphasized that, cooperative societies are committed to the progress of democracy, fostering accountability and mutual respect.
The cooperative societies equally serves as a practical Vehicle for social justice for social justice without any form of discrimination where every Individual is valued.
Cooperatives reduces social unrest and insecurity by bringing people from different divides says the President.
He appeal to financial Institutions to support cooperative societies for sustainable peace because cooperatives remains a very strong platform for building of Peace.
Guest Speaker at the occasion,Steve Aluko who spoke on the theme: Cooperative for A Peaceful World Cooperative societies were established during economic crises and played a major role in restoring peace after the second world war.
Said the Cooperatives also promote social inclusion,engendering economic resilience.
He Charged the Cooperators particularly leaders to always be transparent and give accountability.
Good will messages came from the Executive Governor of Plateau State,Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang who was represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industries,Hon. Mohamed Nyalung, Congratulated the Cooperators and charged them to continue the great work of contributing to the Economic growth and peace of the state
