CHRICED To Succour 1000 Vulnerable Women, Youth In FCT.

In a bold Step aimed at reviving and promoting the Cultural rights and identity of the Original Inhabitants of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, through advocacy and a empowerment, the Mark Arthur Foundation/ Center for Human Rights and Civic Education CHRICED in Partnership with the Helpline Social Supports Initiative has Commenced the Second Phase of a project it stated in 2021.
Speaking at a Press Conference, Tuesday, June 24th, 2025, at the EFAB Mall Extension, Area 11, of the Federal Capital Territory, to outline it Programs for the Second Phase, the Co-ordinator, Helpline Social Supports Initiative, Mr Arome Onoa, said the Second phase of the project, focusses on ” Strengthening the Cultural Rights of the Fct Original Inhabitant, beginning from 2025- 2027.
Arome noted that in Continuation of the project, CHRICED would train 1000 Vulnerable Women and Youth on the Production of Cultural attires to Spur the Cultural identity and awareness of the Original Inhabitant, and to also Create jobs opportunity through the acquisition of Skills and Crafts.
Explaining further, the Coordinator pointed out that 1000 beneficiaries of the Project Shall be Selected from the Nine tribes that are the Original Inhabitant of the Federal Capital Territory, Spanning a period of Eighteen Months, he said.
He said, the Project Shall also witness strong advocacy for the resettlement and also ensure that adequate Compensation are made to Original Inhabitant who were affected by Government development activities.
He said the Helpline Social Supports Initiative amongst others, intends to Create awareness of the existence of the Original Inhabitant and also revive their Voices which appeared to have been Suppressed.
The group Called on Government and other Critical Stakeholders in the Federal Capital Territory, to Support this project which was aimed to Succour and alleviating the Sufferings of the Original Inhabitants of the Nation’s Capital.
