The death of Nura, popularly known as Ribado, an alleged notorious killer in Kano State, has continued to spark controversy following allegations of political interference in the ongoing police investigation.
Sources claimed that efforts are being made to influence the investigation and secure the arrest of individuals allegedly linked to the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo. However, the police reportedly questioned and later released those invited after finding no sufficient evidence to support criminal charges.
There are also allegations that attempts are being made to transfer the case from the Kano State Police Command to the Force Headquarters in Abuja, although the Nigeria Police Force has not confirmed any such move.
Meanwhile, supporters of the Deputy Governor have urged the Inspector General of Police to ensure the investigation remains impartial and free from political influence, describing the allegations as part of a political rivalry.
As of press time, neither the Nigeria Police Force, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, Hon. Kawu Idris Hausawa, nor the Kano State Police Command had issued an official response to the claims.
