Cross River: Seasoned Journalist, Peter Willie, Obtains Intent Form For Yakurr LG Chairmanship Race

Following the release of time-table by the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) for the state’s Local Government (LG) elections and guidelines announced by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the conduct of primaries, Peter Willie, a seasoned journalist, communicator and economist of note, has obtained the expression of interest form to officially join the chairmanship contest for Yakurr Local Government (LG).

Speaking to newsmen after the purchase of the intent form at the Cross River APC Secretariat, Willie, a former Senior Legislative Aide (SLA) at the National Assembly in the Office of the Senate Leader, said he was going into the race to clinch the Yakurr’s chairmanship seat to bring total transformation to the local government and make life better for the people.

According to the chairmanship hopeful, who had worked in several reputable media outfits before joining politics years back, the residents of Yakurr LG need a man that understands their problems and has what it takes to proffer the right solutions.

He said if given the APC ticket and eventually elected as Yakurr Chairman he would diligently work and collaborate with the Cross River State government under the able, dynamic, pragmatic and competent leadership of Governor Bassey Otu to open up the local government for rapid development.

He promised to embark on projects that would have direct bearing and make significant impact on the lives of the people in the areas of health, education, agriculture, sports, tourism and other critical sectors of the economy.

Seen as the leading contender for the chairmanship ticket of APC in the forthcoming Yakurr LG poll, Willie has gained wide acceptability as a result of his phenomenal grassroots appeal and he is therefore believed to be the best man for the job.

Willie, the candidate to beat, has received the blessing and prayer of His Royal Majesty (HRM), Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng, Obol Lopon of Ugep and Paramount Ruler of Yakurr Local Government Area.

The highly revered monarch blessed and prayed for Willie’s success when he went to notify him of his chairmanship aspiration after the purchase of the intent form signalling his formal entry into the race.
