Customs Strengthens Operational Capacity as 50 Officers Graduate from NCCSC Gwagwalada

Fifty officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have successfully completed the three-month Junior Course 25 at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, Abuja, marking another significant milestone in their professional development and leadership careers.
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the graduation ceremony held on Friday, 28 August 2026, the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, charged the graduating officers to uphold integrity, sound judgment, and the national interest above personal gain.

Adeniyi emphasised that leadership in modern Customs administration extends beyond routine revenue generation, requiring competence, accountability, fairness, and a strong sense of responsibility.
“Leadership is not defined solely by the rank that you wear, but is demonstrated through competence, fairness, courage and the responsibility you take,” Adeniyi told the graduates, urging them to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their training to effectively navigate the demands of an increasingly complex operational environment.
The Commandant of the College, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Dow Gaura, also commended the officers for their commitment and dedication throughout the course. He highlighted the institution’s ongoing efforts to enhance training and professional capacity, including the introduction of digital learning tools and strategic training partnerships with the Nigerian Army.
The ceremony featured the presentation of certificates to all 50 graduating officers, while special awards were presented by the CGC to the three best-performing officers in recognition of their outstanding performance during the course.
The celebrations had commenced earlier in the week on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, with a regimental dinner. Speaking at the event, DCG Suleiman Chiroma, who represented the CGC, urged members of the cohort to demonstrate vigilance, professionalism, and decisive leadership as they resume their post-graduation assignments across various Customs commands.
The graduation of Junior Course 25 underscores the NCS’s continued commitment to strengthening the professional competence, leadership capacity, and operational effectiveness of its officers in line with the evolving demands of modern Customs administration.
