Democracy Newsline Newspaper to Honour Prof. Ronke Bello with Community Development Service Award on August 19
ABUJA — Democracy Newsline Newspaper has announced that renowned academic and grassroots development advocate, Professor Ronke Bello, will be honoured with the ‘Community Development Service Award’ at its 16th Public Lecture and Award Ceremony.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, 19th August, 2026 at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja. It will mark the 27th Anniversary of Uninterrupted Democracy in Nigeria.
According to the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, Chief Olugbemi Femi, the award recognizes Prof. Bello’s outstanding contributions to community development, women empowerment, education, and humanitarian services across the country.
“Professor Ronke Bello has consistently demonstrated leadership through service to humanity,” Chief Femi said. “Her commitment to grassroots development and mentorship has impacted countless lives and communities, and she deserves this national recognition.”
The theme of this year’s lecture is “Economic Reform, Democracy and Sustainable Development: The Nigerian Example.” The ceremony will also feature the Induction of distinguished Nigerians into the Good Governance Hall of Fame.
Other dignitaries expected at the event include government officials, traditional rulers, captains of industry, development partners, and civil society leaders.
The organizers said the awards are designed to celebrate Nigerians whose leadership and service have advanced democracy, good governance and sustainable development.
Prof. Bello is expected to deliver a goodwill message at the ceremony and will receive a plaque and citation in honor of her achievements.
