‘Don’t Indict Your National Member, My Foundation Is the One Responsible for Financing the Projects’ – Leke Abejide, Disburses ₦40m to Isanlu Community as Others Receive ₦80m in Yagba East
The Leke Abejide Foundation, a pet project of Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide’s family and the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency, has urged Nigerians not to hold other National Assembly members responsible for the ongoing community projects initiative, stating that the funding is coming solely from his personal foundation.
Speaking during the disbursement of ₦40 million to Isanlu community, Abejide clarified that the empowerment programme is financed by the Leke Abejide Foundation and not from legislative allocations.
“Don’t indict your national member. It is my foundation that is financing the community projects initiative,” he said.
He noted that long before he was elected, God had blessed him and his family, stressing that those who knew him up north before his election would understand what he was saying.
The ₦40 million was presented to Isanlu’s Community Development Association for the execution of projects prioritized by the community itself.
Abejide said the initiative is designed to ensure grassroots development, improve livelihoods, and address long-standing infrastructure gaps across Yagba land.
He explained that each community in the constituency is expected to receive up to ₦50 million over four years, disbursed in tranches based on progress and accountability.
The foundation has disbursed ₦10 million to several communities in earlier phases, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to over 48.
Community leaders in Isanlu welcomed the intervention and pledged to ensure judicious use of the funds.
They described the gesture as timely and impactful, noting that it would help revive abandoned projects and support key areas such as roads, water, health, and education.
Abejide reiterated his commitment to delivering tangible development across the 71 communities in Yagba Federal Constituency and urged residents to support the process by prioritizing transparency and unity.
Speaking at the well-attended event at the GYB Event Center in Isanlu, the Executive Chairman of Yagba East Local Government Area, Hon. Monday Dare; House of Assembly member, Hon. Emmanuel Obaro; Agbana of Isanlu, His Royal Majesty Oba Moses Itomi; and Overseer S.O. Aguda commended Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide and the foundation for his magnanimity in reaching out to the people of the constituency.
They said this was not the first time the lawmaker had intervened in critical sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, empowerment, and employment for the upcoming generation, describing the gesture as the first of its kind in the country.
The Agbana of Isanlu specifically eulogized Elder Leke Abejide as a worthy in-law who had been taking care of the Isanlu community long before he was elected into the House of Representatives in 2019.
He noted that there was no need to change someone who is performing, and urged the people to continue encouraging him to do more.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of a ₦40 million cheque to Isanlu community, while Ijowa, Iye, Ilotin, Ilafin, Odogbe, Ido-Jesa, Idofin, and Irunda-Ile received ₦10 million each for the community empowerment initiative of the Leke Abejide Foundation, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 48.
The train will move to Okeoyi communities on Saturday for the continuation of the disbursement.
