Dr. Mahmoud Alfa Rallies Kogi APC Leaders, Pushes Unity Ahead of 2027
LOKOJA, August 5, 2026 — Political economist and former APC Kogi East senatorial aspirant, Dr. Mahmoud Alfa, PhD, is building bridges across Kogi’s political landscape.
In a series of high-level meetings with top government officials and party stakeholders, he called for stronger unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and threw his weight behind the re-election of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while also pledging support for the continued development of Kogi State.

Dr. Alfa began the day with a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr. (Mrs.) Folashade Arike Ayoade.
Their discussions centered on policies and initiatives aimed at advancing the progress of the state.
The SSG received him warmly, describing Dr. Alfa as “her own son” and commending him for his consistent engagement with issues affecting Kogi.
She also wished him success in his future political engagements.
The momentum continued at the office of the Deputy Governor, Elder Joel Salifu.
Both leaders used the meeting to emphasize the need for cohesion within the APC.
They agreed that internal collaboration is critical to sustaining the gains of the Ododo administration and to aligning Kogi fully with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The conversation underscored a shared view that a united party is better positioned to deliver infrastructure, security, and economic opportunities to the people.
Dr. Alfa capped the day at the Ankpa Local Government APC Stakeholders’ Meeting held at Halims Hotel in Lokoja.
The reconciliation session drew prominent party figures, including Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims, Professor Usman Ogbo, Dr. Kashim Akor, and the Chairman of Ankpa LGA.
The message from the gathering was direct: party members must close ranks and work together for the progress of the APC in Kogi East and across the state.
The commitment was matched with resources.
In support of the meeting’s objectives, Hon. Halims donated ₦2 million, Dr. Mahmoud Alfa contributed ₦1 million, and Dr. Kashim Akor added ₦100,000. Stakeholders described the donations as a demonstration of leadership and a signal that the party is ready to invest in unity and grassroots mobilization ahead of future elections.
With engagements spanning the SSG’s office, the Deputy Governor, and the Ankpa caucus, Dr. Alfa’s activities reflected a clear theme: unity within APC, loyalty to the Ododo and Tinubu leadership, and a renewed focus on delivering development to Kogi communities.
