EMINENT NIGERIANS PAY LAST RESPECT TO FORMER NUC DIRECTOR
Eminent Nigerians last night paid their last respect to the first Registrar of the National Open University of Nigeria and retired Director, National University Commission, Alhaji Hamidu Gambari Erubu who died last night at the age of ninety-six,in Ilorin the Kwara State Capital.
Alhaji Hamidu Erubu who was buried at his ancestral home, Magaji Erubu, Erubu quarters Ilorin was attended by the representatives of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, former and serving members of National and State Assemblies, serving and former members of the State Executive Council, Career Diplomats, jurists, his students, Associates, prominent Islamic scholars and University lecturers.
Leading the Janazat prayer, the Imam of Erubu mosque, Alhaji Sanni Erubu urged Muslim faithfuls to always see death as an inevitable end of all mankind and advised Muslims to see life and positions as temporal.
Alhaji Sanni Erubu described the deceased as humble, God fearing and kind-hearted person, who used his endowments to serve Allah and humanity.
Late Alhaji Erubu who was honoured with the Member of Federal Republic {MFR} and Commander of Order of the Niger {CON} by the federal Government had served as First editor of Adult Education in Nigeria, Chairman Kwara state Civil Service Commission, Director of Administration Directorate of Food, Roads and Rural Infrastructures DFRRI, Director National University Commission, member of Governing Council of Ahmadu Bello University and University of Calabar, and pioneering Registrar of the National Open University of Nigeria,
