Erico Emerges: Kogi East Youths Mobilise for New Political Era
Atumeyi Edime Congratulates APC Senatorial Candidate, Calls for Grassroots Mobilisation
The emergence of Hon. Joseph Ameh Erico as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial Candidate for Kogi East has been described as a significant turning point in the political history of the senatorial district, with youths urged to mobilise across the grassroots for a new era of effective representation and accountable leadership.
Comrade Edison Atumeyi Edime, a political activist and youths advocate, stated this while congratulating Erico on his emergence following the release of the final senatorial list by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Edime said Erico’s emergence should be viewed beyond the issue of political candidacy, describing it as an opportunity for the people of Kogi East to demand greater accountability, equity, justice, transparency and meaningful development from those seeking to represent them.
He called on youths across the senatorial district to become more politically conscious and actively participate in the democratic process ahead of the forthcoming election.
According to him, the youths should mobilise peacefully from community to community, ward to ward and polling unit to polling unit, while making their voices count in determining the kind of leadership they want.
Edime described Erico as a candidate who, in his view, represents integrity, transparency, equity, justice and transformation, adding that the APC candidate understands the challenges confronting youths, farmers, women, entrepreneurs and communities across Kogi East.
He said Erico’s emergence provides an opportunity to strengthen the voice of Kogi East at the National Assembly and pursue policies and programmes capable of delivering meaningful dividends of democracy to the people.
“The time has come for the youths to become active participants in the democratic process. Our PVCs must become instruments of political expression; our voices must become instruments of accountability; and our collective participation must determine the leadership we desire,” Edime stated.
He warned against political apathy among young people, stressing that the 2027 electoral process should be approached with political consciousness, strategic mobilisation and peaceful democratic participation.
“Kogi East is watching. The youths are watching. The grassroots are watching,” he said.
Edime further urged the people of Kogi East, particularly youths, to support and rally behind Erico, whom he described as the APC’s candidate for the senatorial district, as political activities gather momentum ahead of the election.
He expressed optimism that the growing grassroots mobilisation around Erico would usher in what he described as “a new chapter” for Kogi East politics.
“The movement has begun. The message is spreading. The grassroots are mobilising. Kogi East is ready for a new chapter,” he declared.
While congratulating Erico once again, Edime urged his supporters to remain peaceful, issue-driven and committed to democratic values throughout the electoral process.
He concluded with a rallying call: “Erico for Kogi East — a voice for the people, a mandate for transformation.”
