Explosion Rocks Kebbi’s Bagudo General Hospital – Residents Evacuate Safely.

By Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu Bueru Chief
December 30, 2025.

An early-morning explosion at the General Hospital in Bagudo, Kebbi State, startled residents on Tuesday, sending tremors through the quiet community and prompting an immediate, orderly evacuation of patients and staff.

The blast, which occurred before dawn, damaged a building within the hospital’s staff quarters. Authorities confirmed that no lives were lost and no injuries were recorded, a development widely credited to the swift response of hospital workers and security personnel who ensured everyone was moved to safety.

Within minutes, the area was secured by a combined team of police officers, military personnel, and local vigilante groups. Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) specialists were deployed to assess the site and rule out any secondary threats, while access to the affected section of the hospital was temporarily restricted.

Speaking on the incident, the Kebbi State Police Command reassured residents that the situation was fully under control. The command confirmed that additional security units had been stationed around the hospital and nearby neighborhoods to maintain calm and prevent misinformation.

A comprehensive investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the explosion.

Hospital management said essential services were not completely disrupted, as emergency cases were redirected to safer sections of the facility and neighboring health centers as a precaution. Patients who could be discharged were allowed to return home, while others were monitored closely by medical staff.

Community leaders praised the calm response of residents, noting that cooperation with security agencies helped avoid panic. Many residents gathered at a safe distance, offering support to hospital workers and families of patients.
As investigations continue, authorities urged the public to remain vigilant but calm, and to rely only on official updates. They also appealed for anyone with useful information to come forward, assuring that all credible leads would be handled professionally.

For now, Bagudo is slowly returning to normal, with security presence still visible around the hospital as experts work to uncover the cause of the blast and ensure the safety of the community.
