FARMER GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO RECEIVES AWARD AS THE MOST PENSIONERS FRIENDLY GOVERNOR BY THE NIGERIA UNION OF PENSIONERS.

Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has been honoured with the “most pensioners friendly Governor” award, by the Nigeria Union of Pensioners.

The award was presented to the farmer Governor during the 12th quadrennial National Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, held at the Coronation Hall, Government House Kano State.

The farmer Governor, who dedicated the award to all Pensioners across the Country, thanked the award organizers for recognizing his efforts in supporting elder statesmen who have sacrificed so much for the Country.

He acknowledged the need for significant improvement in the pension administration not only in Niger State but Nigeria at large, saying that the award would spur him to continue to give maximum attention to the plight of pensioners.

The farmer Governor who suggested better ways to pay pensioners without them going through difficult process, also harped on the need for all Nigerians to give priority to Agriculture for self-sufficiency while disclosing that his administration will open a demonstration farm for the Nigeria Union of Pensioners.

The farmer Governor then announced the donation of N100m to the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, to support their activities.

The National President, National Union of Pensioners, Mazi Godwin Abumisi and the General Secretary of the Union, Elder Actor Zal, in their separate remarks, applauded the farmer Governor for his unwavering determination to better the lives of pensioners which has earned him the award.

Representatives of the Minister of Labour and Employment and that of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, acknowledged the significant efforts made by the farmer Governor and some of his colleagues in ensuring that Pensioners are not neglected.

Other Governors also honoured with awards by the Nigeria Union of Pensioners were the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang and the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke.
