FG and State urged to stem down food prices

A spiritual leader and National Ameer of Daaru-r-Rahmat (DARMAT) Islamic Society, Sheikh Musibau-deen Olawale has advised the federal and state governments to ensure the reduction of food prices for residents of the country so as to show the reflection of relief on exchange rate.
The cleric made the advice in a statement issued in Ilorin, Kwara state capital on the sideline of the celebrations of Eid-Fitr.
According to him, “the prevalent economic situation occasioned by the increase in the prices of foods in the country has continued to have a toll on the livelihood of all the Nigerians.
“The development is so devastating that, it is very hard for the people to meet their three days meals and this has affected the health growth of the populace.
“And with the improved in the Nigeria’s naira as against dollars, I am appealing to the federal and state governments to work together on this and ensure that the prices of foods stabilised so as to enable the people have access to the foods with easy”.
The cleric who used the occasion to call on Muslims to allow the lessons of Ramadan fasting reflects on their actions and attitudes said that, Ramadan teachings remained a catalyst for a strong nation.
He said that, “Islam advocates accountability, sincerity, and support of one another and tasks an individual with good deeds in an effort to reduce hunger and poverty in the society.
“More than 600 people benefited from feeding a soul organised by organisation during Ramadan and I am appealing to well meaning people in the country to always assist the less privileged around them.”.
He also called on the Muslim faithfuls to refrain from what they have absconded during the Ramadan period so as to assist them receive the blessings of Allah.
