A former Director-General of the National Productivity Centre (NPC) and senatorial aspirant in the recently concluded Kogi East All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election, Dr. Kashim Akor, has been honoured with a Human Development Award.
The prestigious award was conferred on Dr. Akor alongside other distinguished sons and daughters of the Igala Kingdom who have made significant contributions to the development of the kingdom, its people, and Nigeria as a whole. The recognition took place during the 13th Arise Igala Leadership Awards and Lecture, held at Reiz Continental Hotel, Abuja, on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
The event attracted prominent sons and daughters of the Igala Kingdom from various walks of life.
In an acceptance speech delivered to the media through his representative and wife, Chief Hajiya Jumai Kashim Akor, Dr. Akor who also holds the Traditional Chieftaincy title, Omachi Atta -Igala (Waali), expressed delight at being recognized by an organisation that has remained committed to promoting the Igala cultural identity and encouraging service to humanity.
He described the Human Development Award as a mark of honour and recognition that should be reciprocated through greater commitment to human development and impactful service to the Igala Kingdom and humanity at large.
“Moving forward, we will continue to do more of what we have been doing to justify the organisation’s kind gesture and to further serve humanity,” he stated.
Speaking in her personal capacity, Chief Hajiya Jumai Kashim Akor attributed her husband’s humanitarian and community development efforts to the support she has consistently provided.
According to her:
“Behind every successful man, there is a woman. If a wife is not supportive, it becomes difficult for her husband to extend his helping hand to others.”
She added that the award means a great deal to Dr. Kashim Akor’s family and would further motivate them to continue supporting his commitment to human development and humanitarian service.
Chief Hajiya Jumai noted that the recognition serves as an encouragement for the family to remain steadfast in supporting initiatives that positively impact society and improve the lives of the people.
