GOC Escapes Lakurawa Terrorist Ambush in Kebbi, Five Neutralized Under Operation FANSAN YAMMA

A convoy with the General Officer Commanding 8 Division and Commander Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Bemgha Koughna, successfully foiled a deadly ambush by suspected Lakurawa terrorist group members near Mayama Hill.
In a statement obtained from the Nigerian Army’s X account on Monday, the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations 8 Division, Nigerian Army / Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Col Olaniyi Osoba, said, “the ambush occurred as the GOC’s convoy was en route to visit frontline troops deployed in the area. Armed assailants opened heavy fire on the convoy while it navigated the forested terrain.

“Demonstrating decisive leadership and tactical coordination, Major General Koughna and his troops responded with overwhelming force, neutralising five terrorists and repelling the attack. The operation ensured the safety of the convoy and disrupted the terrorists’ plans, sending a strong deterrent message to insurgent groups in the region.”
