Governor Oborevwori’s Visit to Ayakoromor Bridge Borne Out of Genuine Intention
——- Hon. Francis Obule, SSA to the Governor on Political Matters
By Wilson Macaulay
In a swift and articulate response to recent comments made by Comrade Austin Ozobo, President of the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative (IPDI), the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Hon. Francis Obule, has come out in defense of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, describing the Governor’s visit to Ayakoromor Bridge as a clear reflection of his sincere and unwavering commitment to infrastructural development in the riverine communities of Delta State.
Hon Obule the Senior Governor Aide stated: ” The Governor Sheriff l know is a man Who stand by his words, you can take his promise as a cheque to the bank, whatever he promised he will do.
Based on this pedigree,l can say for sure that he went to Ayakoromor with very good intentions that should not be misinterpreted.”
Comrade Ozobo had alleged that the Governor’s visit to the Ayakoromor Bridge site was not rooted in genuine concern, insinuating political motives. He also claimed that grassroots members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were not ready to follow the Governor into the All Progressives Congress (APC), suggesting a loss of trust and popularity among the masses.
Reacting to these claims, Hon. Francis Obule declared Ozobo’s assertions as “baseless, ill-informed, and politically naive” According to him, Governor Oborevwori’s administration has shown unprecedented inclusion and sensitivity to the needs of all Deltans — especially riverine dwellers — with a developmental footprint that speaks volumes beyond political propaganda.
“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has not only visited the Ayakoromor Bridge project site, but has also committed to fast-tracking its construction. His M.O.R.E Agenda is alive and well, and this bridge remains a key project for his administration. The Governor’s body language, policies, and actions are not those of a man who is insincere,” Obule stated.
He further emphasized that the Governor’s defection to the APC has not only been met with massive support but has triggered an unprecedented wave of realignments across the political landscape of Delta State.
“Today, 99 percent of former PDP stakeholders in Delta State — including members of the State House of Assembly, all Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen, Councillors, and Ward Chairmen National Assembly Members from Delta State— have followed Governor Oborevwori into the APC. This is a testimony of the trust, goodwill, and leadership strength he commands,” he asserted.
Hon. Obule also fault Ozobo’s attempt to undermine the political reality on ground, describing it as an effort to mislead the public and fan the embers of unnecessary divisions in the new political order.
“Grassroots PDP members, as Ozobo referred to them, are not blind. They have followed the Governor en masse because they see leadership, vision, and sincerity in him. The PDP, as it once was in Delta State, has completely realigned under the progressive umbrella of the APC — thanks to the Governor’s courageous decision to move forward with the people’s mandate,” Obule affirmed.
He urged Comrade Ozobo to avoid playing ethnic or regional politics with developmental issues, particularly those that affect communities like Ayakoromor, which have long suffered infrastructural neglect
“The Governor is determined to bridge the infrastructural gap in our riverine communities. Projects like the Ayakoromor Bridge are not political tools; they are lifelines for the people and the economy. Governor Oborevwori is determined to deliver, and he is not distracted by divisive rhetoric,” Obule asserted
He pointed out saying: “As the political climate in Delta State continues to shift under the winds of progress and unity, the facts remain clear: Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has proven himself a people-focused leader, committed to delivering the dividends of democracy regardless of location or political affiliation.”
“The Ayakoromor Bridge, once a distant dream, is now at the center of focused attention, and the people of the area can rest assured that the Governor means every word and action he has taken toward its realization.” Obule concluded.
