Governor Ododo Aid on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Leads Joint advocacy Visit To Dangote Cement Company Obajana, hips on CSR Initiatives To Benefit Host Communities

Governor Ododo Aid on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Yesterday 23rd of September 2025 led a joint courtesy and advocacy visit to Dangote Cement Company in Obajana, focusing on enhancing corporate social responsibility initiatives that benefit the local community, particularly the youth.

During the visit, Honorable Sunday Paul, the Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State Governor on CSR, addressed several pressing concerns raised by the residents of Kogi State regarding Dangote Cement’s operations. Community members reported significant damage to both state and federal roads caused by Dangote trucks, which has resulted in tragic accidents and loss of life. Furthermore, there are claims that families of the victims have not received compensation for these incidents. Many residents also expressed concerns about the perceived marginalization of Kogi indigenes in terms of job opportunities within the company. These issues underscore the necessity for open dialogue and transparency regarding Dangote’s operations in Kogi State.

Honorable Sunday Paul emphasized the importance of enhancing security measures, as well as implementing skills development and capacity-building initiatives. He highlighted the need for fostering positive relationships with host communities and the broader Kogi populace to ensure mutual benefits.

He urged Dangote Cement to actively engage local youth in its operations, promoting entrepreneurship and enhancing employability to align with state goals aimed at reducing unemployment and stimulating economic growth.

Additionally, he proposed discussions on implementing CSR projects that would benefit both the company and the host communities. The Governor’s aide also seeks to explore potential collaborations focused on skills development, entrepreneurship training, and job creation since the establishment of the cement plant.
