Governor Ododo Donates Electric Tricycles, Motorbikes to CUSTECH Osara, kogi state.

In a major intervention aimed at easing transportation challenges within the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, the Kogi State Governor and Visitor to the University, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has donated electric-powered tricycles and motorbikes to the institution.

The vehicles were formally received today, Monday, September 14th, 2026, by the Vice-Chancellor of CUSTECH, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, who described the gesture as another demonstration of the Governor’s commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of staff and students.

Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the University, Prof. Salawu said the intervention would significantly reduce the cost and difficulty associated with movement within the campus.

He identified transportation as one of the major challenges confronting members of the University community, stressing that the Governor’s intervention came at a time when the institution urgently needed an affordable, reliable and sustainable internal transportation system.

«“The Governor is passionate about the welfare of our staff and students. This donation will go a long way in reducing the cost of transportation within the University and making movement around the campus easier and more affordable,” the Vice-Chancellor said.»

The Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged the contributions of the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to the development of CUSTECH, particularly the construction of an extensive road network across the University campus.

According to him, the road infrastructure has provided suitable routes for the effective deployment and operation of the newly donated electric vehicles.

«“The former Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, constructed good road networks across the campus. With these roads, these tricycles will be put to very good use in moving our staff and students conveniently around the University,” he said.»

Prof. Salawu further commended Governor Ododo for promoting environmentally friendly transportation through the introduction of electric-powered vehicles to the University.

He described the tricycles and motorbikes as “noiseless, smokeless and environmentally friendly,” noting that their deployment would not only improve mobility but also contribute to a cleaner and healthier campus environment.

The Vice-Chancellor also appreciated the Chief Executive Officer of House of Destiny Global Services, Dr. Isreal Olajumoke, represented at the event by Mrs. Momoh Janet Ometere, for introducing the innovative electric-powered transportation solution to the University.

He urged staff and students to embrace and protect the vehicles, while calling on the University community to continue to support the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in its efforts to improve infrastructure and welfare at CUSTECH.

Also speaking, the University Registrar, Mrs. Glory Ojochogu Yakubu, commended Governor Ododo for what she described as his consistent commitment to the welfare of the University community.

The Registrar recalled that the Governor had, only a few months earlier, commenced the construction of staff quarters on the University campus, describing the provision of transportation as another significant intervention that would directly impact the daily lives of staff and students.

She said the electric tricycles and motorbikes would provide a cheaper, easier and more accessible means of transportation within the University.

The University Bursar, Mr. Bello Emmanuel Ajayi; Director, Physical Planning and Development, Bldr. Ismail Adoke; Dean, Student Affairs, Engr. Dr. Shehu Shaib; Head, Internal Audit, Alh. Hussain Mohammed; Ag. Director, Works and Maintenance, Engr. Sadiq Rufai; Ag. Director, Procurement, Alh. Buhari Sadiq Ozomata; and Ag. Head, Information, Public Relations and Protocol Unit, Mr. Umar Steven Ogirima, joined the Vice-Chancellor in receiving the vehicles.
