Group Raises Concern Over Misleading Online Content to malign Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello before Presidency
The APC Media Advocacy Network (AMAN) has called for calm and urged security agencies to investigate the circulation of online content allegedly aimed at creating tension between the Presidency and the Kogi State Government.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, the group said it had observed a rise in misleading videos, messages, and publications on social media, which were being presented as coming from supporters of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo or former Governor Yahaya Bello with a satanic intention to create disharmony between the APC Kogi State and the Presidency.
According to AMAN, the materials were capable of causing misunderstanding between key political actors, adding that the videos were being used to create the impression of division within the party., disaffections against the Presidency and put Governor Ododo and former Governor Yahaya Belo is bad light before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The group spokesman Wisdom Ohalete says it has credible intel that links the cyber attacks to a group of APC members who are led by a serving federal lawmaker who has vowed to destabilize the peace and unity the party enjoys in the state. The group specifically puts the presidency on alert to be aware that some persons are perpetuating media onslaught that seeks to create disharmony between the Presidency, Kogi state government and former Governor Yahaya Bello. The group argued that the desire to wrestle power from the current government has made two APC members from Kogi state but holding some federal appointments to collude with the servicing federal lawmaker to sponsor hate speech capable of destroying the cordial relationship between the President and Governor of Kogi state.
The group said some political actors were using the situation to push personal interests ahead of the 2027 elections. It added that some of the materials were being circulated across various online platforms, including WhatsApp and Facebook, in ways it described as misleading.
AMAN also noted concerns that some content creators were being sponsored to produce inflammatory materials that could cause tension. The group urged security agencies to identify individuals behind the distributed messages and to ensure that peace and stability within the state and the party were protected.
It confirmed that one of the creators linked to the videos, @realmamakogi had been arrested and was assisting with investigations. AMAN appealed to all stakeholders to avoid actions capable of heightening tension and to support ongoing efforts to strengthen unity within the party.
The group reiterated the importance of maintaining the good relationship between the Presidency and the Kogi State Government and urged the public to verify information before sharing online.
