From his early years as a journalist and Unionist to becoming National President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists between 1999 and 2006 , Senator Adeyemi’s story has always been one of service before self. That foundation in truth-telling and advocacy would go on to define a political career that made history: he became the first person to be elected three terms as Senator in Kogi West, and the first to serve three terms as a Senator from Kogi State altogether.
Across those three terms spanning 2007 to 2023, he did not merely occupy a seat — he legislated with purpose, sponsoring over 80 bills, several of which received presidential assent and became law.
But beyond the chambers of the National Assembly, it is his heart for the ordinary man that has cemented his legacy. Those who have followed his public life describe a leader whose strategic empowerment programmes have helped everyday Nigerians become self-reliant — sponsoring small businesses, donating vehicles to transporters, and establishing youth initiatives that tackle unemployment head-on.
