Health Insurance: Elulu of Mopa Pledges to Enroll Cabinet Members in KGSHIA Vital Contributor Plan

In a strong show of support for Kogi State’s healthcare initiatives, the Elulu of Mopa, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Muyiwa Ibeun, who also serves as the Chairman of Mopamuro Local Government Area Traditional Council (MTC), has announced plans to sponsor the enrollment of his cabinet members in the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency’s (KGSHIA) Vital Contributor Plan.

This commitment comes as the traditional leader expresses his alignment with the emphasis on health insurance programs under the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. The Elulu lauded both Governor Ododo for continuing to prioritize healthcare and the immediate past governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for establishing the KGSHIA to institutionalize health insurance in the state.

Addressing a delegation from KGSHIA at his palace in Mopa, Oba Ibeun highlighted the essential role of health insurance in safeguarding well-being. “Health is wealth,” he emphasized, adding that it is crucial not to take health matters for granted. By sponsoring the MTC cabinet members’ enrollment, he aims to encourage other influential figures to embrace health insurance, underscoring the importance of collective responsibility in improving health access.

Furthermore, the Elulu revealed his intention to engage Mopamuro’s prominent sons and daughters to sponsor health insurance enrollments for as many people as possible. He stressed that Governor Ododo’s deliberate focus on healthcare deserves widespread support from traditional and other institutions.

Oba Richard Aiyedogbon, the Alamuro of Amuro, also spoke at the meeting, calling for more extensive sensitization campaigns to reach every corner of the local government. He commended the governor for launching health insurance initiatives for civil servants and for the Bello Care program, which provides coverage for many vulnerable residents across Kogi State.

Hon. Abraham Jacob, a Permanent Member of KGSHIA, led the team to the palace and expressed gratitude to Oba Ibeun for his warm reception and endorsement of the agency’s programs. He acknowledged the monarch’s dedication and, on behalf of Dr. Adekunle Aledare, the Executive Secretary of KGSHIA, assured the traditional council of the agency’s commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services to all enrollees.
