The Managing Director of the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA), Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s strategic initiative to distribute fertilizer to farmers across the nation for the ongoing dry season farming. This, he noted, underscores the President’s unwavering commitment to achieving food security through sustainable agricultural practices.
In a statement released recently, Rabiu Suleiman Bichi described the initiative as “unprecedented and worthy of mention,” adding that it reflects President Tinubu’s unparalleled dedication to addressing the nation’s agricultural challenges. He emphasized that this bold step would not only enhance food production but also strengthen the livelihoods of millions of farmers, particularly in Northern Nigeria, where dry season farming plays a crucial role in the economy.
In a separate letter of appreciation to President Tinubu, Bichi expressed profound gratitude for his appointment as the Managing Director of HJRBDA. He acknowledged the trust reposed in him and pledged to work tirelessly to fulfill the authority’s mandate of managing water resources for agricultural development and economic prosperity.
“I am deeply honored by this appointment and immensely grateful for the opportunity to serve under a leadership that prioritizes agriculture and food security. HJRBDA is poised to collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to harness its full potential in improving agricultural output and fostering regional economic growth,” Bichi said.
The fertilizer distribution initiative is part of President Tinubu’s broader agenda to support the agricultural sector as a key driver of the nation’s economy. By empowering farmers with necessary inputs and creating an enabling environment, the administration aims to tackle food insecurity and boost national productivity.
Bichi assured farmers in the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin region of his agency’s commitment to complementing the President’s efforts through enhanced water resource management, technical support, and infrastructure development. He encouraged farmers to take full advantage of the fertilizer distribution program to maximize their yields during the dry season.
This development reaffirms the federal government’s determination to transform agriculture into a viable economic sector capable of driving sustainable growth, creating jobs, and ensuring food security for all Nigerians.
