Hon. Benjamin Olorunfemi to Receive Award for Community Development Service

Hon. Benjamin Olorunfemi, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Kogi State on Grassroots Mobilisation, has been selected to receive the prestigious award for “Community Development Service” by Democracy Newsline Newspaper.
The honour recognises Hon. Olorunfemi’s dedication to mobilising communities, driving civic engagement, and facilitating government interventions at the grassroots level across Kogi State.
Through community outreaches, town-hall meetings, and youth and women empowerment initiatives, Hon. Olorunfemi has played a key role in bridging the gap between government and the people, ensuring that governance delivers real impact at the local level.
Announcing the award, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper, Chief Olugbemi Femi, said Hon. Olorunfemi exemplifies purposeful leadership focused on people-driven development.
“Hon. Benjamin Olorunfemi has distinguished himself as a grassroots mobiliser who understands the needs of the people. His work in sensitizing communities, promoting government programmes, and supporting community development projects makes him truly deserving of this recognition,” Chief Femi stated.
The award will be presented on Wednesday, 19th August, 2026 at 5:00pm during the Democracy Newsline Newspaper 16th Public Lecture and Induction into the Good Governance Hall of Fame holding at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.
The lecture is part of activities marking the 27th Anniversary of Uninterrupted Democracy in Nigeria and is themed: “Economic Reform and Sustainable Development in a Democracy: The Nigeria Experience.”
A keynote address will be delivered by Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Kogi State.
Chairperson of the occasion is Chief (Mrs) Moji Makanjuola, Veteran Broadcaster.
Special Guest of Honour is Hon. Mohammed Idris, Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
Patron is HRH Akogun Isiaq Ajibola, Former MD/CEO, Daily Trust Limited.
Grand Patron is Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, Former Member, Federal House of Representatives.
