Hon. Dele Bello Williams Cleared for PDP Kogi West Senatorial Primary Ahead of 2027
Hon. Dele Bello Williams has been screened and cleared by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the party’s primary election for the Kogi West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to a statement from his campaign team, Williams successfully completed the PDP screening process and has been cleared to participate in the party’s primary for Kogi West.
The clearance paves the way for him to face other aspirants in the contest to secure the PDP ticket for the senatorial race.
Williams said the development marks another step in his bid to represent the people of Kogi West in the 10th Senate.
He described the screening as fair and expressed confidence that delegates would choose a candidate with the capacity to deliver effective representation and attract development to the district.
“Kogi West deserves a senator who understands the challenges of the people and has the network to bring federal presence to the district. I am ready to offer that leadership,” he stated.
Kogi West Senatorial District comprises Lokoja, Kogi/Koton Karfe, Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Yagba East, Yagba West, and Mopamuro Local Government Areas.
The seat is expected to be keenly contested in 2027, with both the PDP and APC working to field strong candidates.
The PDP in Kogi State has said it is focused on presenting credible candidates across the state to reclaim political ground lost in previous elections.
Party officials noted that the primary election will be conducted in line with the party’s guidelines to ensure transparency.
Williams, a former governorship candidate, said he would run an issue-based campaign focused on youth empowerment, infrastructure, security, and agriculture if he emerges as the PDP flag bearer.
